Michela Juran

Board Member

With over 15 years of professional experience in the medical device and biotechnology research industry, Michela is a dynamic, results-driven leader with a passionate drive directed in all of her endeavours. In her commercial roles, she has demonstrated success in driving multimillion-dollar profitable growth of premium products, and has provided visionary leadership in the highly competitive medical devices, clinical diagnostic and life science industries. Michela has climbed the ranks through several leadership roles in research and commercial operations at large cap organizations in her career.

Residing in the Hamilton and surrounding area for over 25 years, Michela calls the Hamilton area her home. She started her career as a Biochemistry Teaching Assistant in 1997 at McMaster University followed by roles at the HTS Laboratory at the Hamilton Health Sciences Centre as a Research Assistant and a Research Coordinator. Moving into the private industry in 2004, Michela then accepted a position as National Automation Consultant for Beckman Coulter. In 2011 she was appointed as National Sales Manager for Beckman Coulter, a Danaher company, and 4 years later she then accepted her current position as Director of Welch Allyn Canada Ltd, a leading global manufacturer of medical diagnostic equipment.

Her key responsibilities as Director is to lead the Canadian Division of Welch Allyn and oversees Canadian commercial operations. She is also a Board Director of MEDEC, a national association for the Medical Technology industry in Canada. Her expertise includes; strategic planning and deployment, sales and marketing management, growth management, cross functional leadership, change management, new product launch strategies, hardware diagnostics/capital equipment, patient care management and the Canadian healthcare industry. Michela received her MBA in Marketing from Queen's University (Kingston, ON Canada) following a successful start in enzymology drug discovery research whereby she co-authored multiple white papers, conference presentations and two provisional patents. She has an MSc and a Honours BASc in Biochemistry from McMaster University (Hamilton, ON Canada) and graduated with top honours throughout her academic career with several top awards.

Michela remains active in her community and has been recognized worldwide for her outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession. She belongs to various employee volunteer programs such as the PWG, and is a dedicated coach and mentor for young future professionals through mentoring programs over the years such as WIL (Women in Leadership). She has volunteered as a crisis counsellor at a women's shelter, advocates to end violence against women and strongly promotes human rights equality through the support of human interest groups. Michela is also a member of the Worldwide Association of Female Professionals. In 2016 she was named "Outstanding Member of the Year," by WAOFP and was selected for inclusion and named "Top Director of the Year in Medical Devices" by the International Association of Top Professionals.

With a dedicated, passionate and optimistic approach to her professional and volunteer work, Michela wants to make a difference by improving patient care for all and saving people's lives.
